HBGS

The Humboldt Bay Generating Station (HBGS) includes 10 each Wartsila 18V50DF reciprocating engines. Capable of 163 MW total output, the HBGS provides power to approximately 120,000 homes. The HBGS is 33% more efficient than the old HBPP fossil fuel Units 1 and 2, with 83% fewer ozone precursors and 33% fewer CO2 emissions. It uses a closed loop cooling system with negligible water usage, eliminating the need to use water from Humboldt Bay.
